Caring For Your Pertex® Waterproof Jacket

Caring for your Pertex® waterproof jacket is very easy and can greatly improve its performance and longevity.

One of the most important ways to care for your Pertex® waterproof is to wash it regularly. This removes dirt and oils that can build up on the fabric and affect your jackets performance.

Before washing always read the care label inside the jacket and follow any specific instructions provided. Close all zips, fasten any Velcro straps and ensure the pockets are empty.

For the best results we recommend using a specific performance clothing product such as Nikwax Tech Wash®.

After washing, line or hang dry your jacket. Alternatively, if the care label allows, tumble-dry on a low setting.

Restoring Water Repellency

Pertex® waterproof fabrics use a durable water repellent (DWR) finish to prevent the outside of the fabric from absorbing water, this helps to maximise the breathability of your jacket and keep you dry.

Over time, this DWR finish will become less effective. If the care label on your jacket allows, you can ‘reactivate’ the DWR by tumble-drying on a low setting for 30 minutes.

After extensive wear and washing, you may need to reapply the DWR to your jacket. There are many products available, we recommend using Nikwax TX.Direct®. Follow the instructions on the specific product you use.
